Q: What is xeriscaping?
A:
The word “xeriscape” comes from the Greek word for “dry”
which is “xeros” along with “scape.” Together
they mean “dry landscape.” In truth, a xeriscape is
a landscape filled with drought tolerant plants. They can be quite
beautiful. Xeriscaping is especially beneficial in desert towns,
like Salt Lake City, Utah. Salt Lake is oftentimes in a state of
drought during the summer. Conserving water by planting a xeriscape,
rather than watering a lawn everyday to keep it lush, can really
help.
