Garden statues come in many traditional and antique forms as well as more contemporary ones. The practice of using such sculptures to add to a garden's appearance dates back to ancient times. This is true of domestic gardens as well as many sacred areas.
Whether or not ancient Greece used garden statues in their domestic gardens is unknown. However, what is known is that the Romans relocated many statues to Italy for ornamental purposes. These were removed during the medieval ages, then again returned with the renaissance.
Today, garden statues may still echo some of these histories with their themes, materials, and design. Of course, there are also plenty of newer spins. Along with more abstract shapes and designs, newer materials such as glass, plastic, and metal are also used.
