Landscaping equipment is the category into which any piece of equipment used to alter the terrain or flora of an area falls. There are a huge variety of devices and machinery that are considered landscaping equipment. They include everything from backhoes, bobcats, and front end loaders to the less exotic lawn mowers, gardening shears, and string trimmers.
The heavy duty variety of landscaping equipment is used for moving earth. If you want to raise a hill in your back yard, or level it out, these are the tools you would use to do it. Because they are specialized and also fairly expensive, there are many companies that well rent them out for private use. Depending on the piece of equipment you may be required to receive training from the company and sign a waiver to be allowed to rent it.

These pieces of landscaping equipment include lawn mowers, tillers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and lawn edging machines. Running in the price range of anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars, there is a wide range of both applications and quality. These are the machines you would use to maintain your lawn, trees, and garden once they are constructed to suit you.
Lastly there are hand tools. When quiet precision is the goal, these are the tools you turn to. From hand trowels to garden shears, push mowers to pole pruners, these tools are human powered and used to do the detail work in yard and garden maintenance.
